Our consulting rooms are set deep in the heart of rural Shropshire countryside, south of Oswestry and close to the Welsh border, where we provide both counselling therapy and a life coaching service to the residents of North-West Shropshire, South-East Clwyd and North-East Powys. There is ample free car parking and full disabled access. We are not accessible by bus or train. (Please see Directions on this web-site which you can download, and which can also be emailed to you)
All sessions are by appointment only and the rural situation helps to achieve the absolute discretion that many of our clients value so much.
In most instances effective counselling is not dependent on the gender of the counsellor, however clients are usually able to choose either a male or female counsellor where this is felt to be important to them.
We are trained to deal with issues of sexual orientation and difference, and so, although no gay, lesbian or bisexual counsellors are available, we feel competent and confident to be able to provide counselling to all.
We are integrative counsellors calling on theories from several modalities to provide the most appropriate counselling for each individual client's needs. See Our philosophy for helping you on this website for full details of the main theories that inform our practice.
While we normally work with clients with one counsellor only, for couple and family counselling the option of joint counselling is available (two counsellors in the room) where this is preferred by the client. Fees are increased by 50%
An initial consultation can be made by phone or by appointment at out consulting rooms. This will last up to 30 minutes and attracts no fee. These sessions combine three elements. There is an assessment as to whether our service is appropriate for the concerns presented by the client. The client is able to judge whether our approach 'feels' as though it will be helpful to them. This first contact with clients is aimed at making a start of promoting the healing process that subsequent work will continue. Following a face to face assessment we will usually be able to continue with a further half hour (25 counselling minutes) session, or a one hour (50 counselling minutes) counselling session if required for which there is the normal fee.
